Heidi (version 2 dramatic reading)
Johanna Spyri
Lu par LibriVox Volunteers

"Heidi" takes us on a journey to the eventful childhood of a good-hearted girl from the Swiss Alps. A warm and loving story, full of touching moments, it reaches children and adults alike. It was written in 1880 and published in two parts:
1. Heidi's years of learning and travel.
2. Heidi makes use of what she has learned.
This English translation from 1915 has "an especial flavor, that very quality of delight in mountain scenes, in mountain people and in child life generally, which is one of the chief merits of the German original. The phrasing has also been carefully adapted to the purpose of reading aloud" (from the book's introduction). And thus, in this dramatic reading, LibriVox volunteers bring this classic story to life with their voices. (summary by Rapunzelina)

Wonderful family story. Many multiple types of families. The book is 1000% better than any play or movie. I wish I never saw any. They kept me from the book cuz I thought I already knew the book "Heidi". This book could save your life! Give it a listen. Excellent reader/actors. Thank you so much.

what a beautiful classic. i have seen the movie but i just dont remember it being as wonderful as this book. a good read for children in need of learning a few lessons & seeing a reward for good deeds. a few readers were off a bit, but overall pleasant to listen to.
good book, can we have the sequels recorded

I enjoyed listening to this, this is the only way I will read the classics, has when I have tried reading one the old language makes it hard, but I seem to enjoy listening to them. isit possible to have the 2 sequels, Heidi grows up & Heidi's children please. the only problem I have with this recording is Heidi's voice it seemed alright to start with, but she kept the same voice all though & seemed too high / trill too young has she grew older this book goes through 4/5 or so years which would take her to 9/10 & most people loses their high thrill voice by that age, it made her seem younger.
Nicely done!

The narration was excellent and I loved the voice acting of Clara's father and Miss Rottenmier. I initially had a little difficulty following Heidi's shrill voice, but once I got used to it, it was wonderful. The only voiceover that I disliked was that of Clara's Grandmother. The reader has read in a sing song voice that is extremely annoying. But overall, it was a nice experience.
I super loved Heidi and very much enjoyed the suberb narration.

I've watched its animation when I was a kid so that's quite 20 years ago (probably). I'm so glad I have encountered this piece of treasure again. Just the genre I always love to hear and read. ❤❤❤ P.s. I'm fond of Heidi's voice. Shrill but pleasant to the ear. 😁
