This book follows Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar chronologically. The action is set during World War I. While away from his plantation home in East Africa, invading German troops destroy it and kill his wife Jane and the Waziri warrior Wasimbu who is left crucified. Tarzan's search for vengeance is filled with much danger, many fierce fights and tons of action as he becomes active in the war on the British side. This is really just the start of the exciting adventures portrayed in this book. (Summary by Wikipedea and Phil Chenevert) (11 hr 5 min)

good book but the narrators are terrible.

They change from chapter to chapter so its hard to stay riveted on the story... and I'm pretty sure batman is narrating at some point too. Whoever that narrator is, he's awful.

although many different readers, some loud and some over acting, I was still involved with the reading. I love the Tarzan series so far

interesting

I find myself laughing at how the behaviour of lions and other beasts of the jungle are so farfetched from the actual behaviour. lions do NOT roar when attacking prey. they roar to warn off rival lions. knowledge of African animal was obviously very much lacking in the beginning of the 20 century. regardless, I love the story in spite of the impossible feats of Tarzan

Loved the book but...

although I enjoyed the book itself and applaud the readers who volunteer, one reader in particular was a little too much. His voice was fine until he exaggerated parts that need not be and would change midsentence. Those few chapters were rough to listen to but I knew that a new reader would soon take over.

Readers are great

Exciting adventurous story by ERB as always. I also love the readers - even 'Batman' as one of the reviews called him. His deep voice was jarring at first coming off of the other readers, but he reads clearly and distinctly, which are the best qualities for me. Thanks volunteers and on to the next one!

in a world of multiple narrators...

we enjoy a typical Tarzan novel. several chapters are read by Mike Vendetti, whose classic voice makes it sounds like a continuous movie trailer... the odd bit is that his cadence frequently falls out of sync with the punctuation.

Great series

I could complain about one narrator who is difficult to listen to but I am just so happy that all of these narrators pull together to get this book read. 😁

Various talented & not talented volunteers

difficult to follow because of the various volunteers ability to bring the story to life.
