Action-Adventure-Romance&Mystery

(4 stars)

J.S.Fletcher writes of Good, Triumphed over Evil. This, as in other of his books, bears one through the maze of steps, taken by the little group of "do-gooders", a bit too slow for the average modern reader, (or listener, as the case may be), yet still brings some thrilling moments to us, which, I absolutely recommend to you!

Cate Barrett is another fine reader...does so well with the narrative and characters...Fletcher seems to elevate his females... They are excellent types who do not swoon and faint... There is always a ‘touch of romance.”...this story had enough mystery and twists to keep me guessing...and as usual... Nice surprises at the wrap up.

Pretty good

Good story, did have to repeat chapters a couple of times to understand what was going on. Probably because I fell asleep :). I so enjoyed one reader. Thanks.

good mystery with a very unsatisfying ending

i really like js fletcher’s writing style but this is one of his biggest letdowns. technically this book is great - i like the characters, the main female character is enjoyable, there’s murder, i really liked the start where there’s a hint for a missing man. plot twists and conspiracies abound and there’s some exciting action and even a marooning!!! the ending is terrible. what a nothingburger. the criminals just hand themselves in?? there is no punishment. none. zip. nada. absolutely everyone involved in the conspiracy gets away scot free for reasons of old, woman, dead, and husband. it was SO aggravating. that lawyer was the only sensible character. like???? lock that woman up. who cares if she’s nobly confessing to her crime she’s still a literal criminal LOCK HER UP for this reason, two stars. excellently read and a joy to listen to, i wish we could rank the reader and the plot separately. reader gets 5 stars, ending gets ZERO. i could not believe what i was hearing

Kept my interest

I like the constant surprises from this mystery. The characters are genuinely intelligent and enjoyable to follow. I also love this reader. She keeps a good pace and adds to the story. There is a death presumed to be a murder, haughty rich folks, down to earth wealthy people, poor people with lots of intuition, and intellect and of course a love interest. I recommend this one.

really good!!!

Interesting!! I love these old fashioned mysteries. Not a lot of killing and just fun to listen to. Excellent reader. Love her chuckles!!

the story was real tough to want to get past chapter 15, thank you Miss Barrett, for the time effort and and extra voice drama that if you apply that much extra voice drama in your everyday conversations with your very patient friends I personally enjoy less accomplished readers then yourself and I simply do not fully comprehend the necessity to incorporate drama past what the author already wrote into the story. I figure if the story needed narration drama to maintain interesting then it's probably not the story I was interested in dedicating my time and hearing to bother listening to narrator version as opposed to the authors published edition. As always THANKS LIBIRVOX.

This is another well written story of a time past. The pleasure of the tale is in listening to a reader who knows her craft and enjoys sharing it with the listener. Her pace and cadence is smooth and comfortable
