Herbert West: Reanimator
H. P. Lovecraft
Leído por Phil Chenevert
Herbert West: Reanimator is a chilling tale that delves into the dark realms of life, death, and the boundaries of science. Written by H. P. Lovecraft, this story follows the obsessive and morally ambiguous Herbert West, a medical student with a singular ambition: to conquer death itself through reanimation.
Set against the backdrop of early 20th-century America, Lovecraft's narrative explores the consequences of West's experiments, which lead to horrifying results. As he pushes the limits of ethical science, the line between life and death blurs, unleashing a terror that challenges the very nature of humanity.
With its blend of horror and speculative fiction, Herbert West: Reanimator not only laid the groundwork for the modern zombie genre but also raises profound questions about the pursuit of knowledge and the moral implications of playing god. This audiobook invites listeners into a world where curiosity leads to unimaginable horrors.

surprised!

I'm not generally a fan of zombie media, but lately I've been plowing through many of Mr. Lovecrafts works. I avoided this one for some time because of the subject matter. I've just finished reading it and I can say that I've been no less impressed by this piece of literary work than any of his other bests. After reading so many of his other works I should have known this one would be fantastic. I feel sure his fans and fans of zombie media alike will love this dark read.
Excellent Reading

This text is one of my favorites, so I was hesitant to listen to it and have it potentially ruined. But the reader is clear, free of corny sound effects, and the pace is perfect.
Very well read

There is at least one other reading of this story that is found in another collection but this narration I find much more enjoyable.

The rye delivery of this narrator is a perfect fit for the writing. Lovecraft's storytelling here is a great balance between the evolving horror of the person recounting events and a matter-of-fact description of the same events. This is one of my favorite Librivox readings. I keep coming back to it.
A classic chiller!

I had initially been concerned that Phil C’s jovial voice would not work well with this dark tale but I was wrong on that count, he does an excellent job with the text and brings it to life in its gothic splendour
knock-off Frankenstein
Mark Burchard
Not the most original work in the world, I expected better from Lovecraft. The way he constantly re-summarizes events that happened only pages ago is annoying.
solid adventure

while there is a ghoulish element, this felt more like a solid relic hunt. enjoyable and well read .
Good Lovecraft Short Story
