The Boys' Life of Abraham Lincoln
Helen Nicolay
Lu par Tom Weiss

The Boys’ Life of Abraham Lincoln is a biography with many anecdotes that takes one deeper into the thoughts, personality, and beliefs of the man that was Lincoln. While the title indicates the book is about Lincoln’s life as a boy, the book is a full, if somewhat shortened biography. It is very well written and was a joy to record. One might ask, "Who was Helen Nicolay?" Her father, John George Nicolay, was Abraham Lincoln's private secretary and doubtless much of the material comes from his complete biography of Abraham Lincoln. ( Summary by Tom Weiss) (5 hr 42 min)

this reader always does a fantastic job. and he did a good job on this book. the book is about more than abe's boyhood. it follows his whole life. the last few sentences glorify Lincoln to the point that they make it sound like he is the christ jesus. so that part i didnt like. but i enjoyed learning how times in the white house have changed - a little boy walking right into the executive office looking for a job. and i learned how hard he worked to get debt free as a you man before his presidency. some descriptions of war accounts are one sided, if you are reading this for history then also read a book written by a southern sympathizer. all books seem biased and the only way to come to an understanding of the time period is to read several books from several points of view. but overall i enjoyed learning a few tidbits of Lincoln on a more personal level.
