One must have a little pinch of seasoning in this dull, heavy life of ours; one should never look to have all the troubles, the labors, and the cares, with never a whit of innocent jollity and mirth. Yes, one must smile now and then, if for nothing else than to lift the corners of the lips in laughter that are only too often dragged down in sorrow. … Yet listen! Not overly impressed with this collection

This is a collection of short stories and poems that are very much like the Aesop fables. Some are interesting, some are boring, and some are blah. I lost interest at chapter 13 and moved onto another book. Regarding readers: Maria did a fine job, I was able to follow her without issue. Ray was more difficult. His cadence was blurry in some way that I had trouble following. I believe this story will appeal more to fans of the dramatic, which I am not.
