An English Woman-Sergeant in the Serbian Army
Flora Sandes
Leído por MaryAnn

Flora Sandes was the only British woman officially to serve as a soldier in World War I. Initially a St. John Ambulance volunteer, she traveled to Serbia, where, in the confusion of war, she was formally enrolled in the Serbian army. While the Serbian Army was regrouping in Corfu, Ms. Sandes returned to England to recuperate and publish these memoirs.(Summary from Wikipedia) (2 hr 58 min)

beautifully read

this book is beautifully read, a fine job. the writer of this book did a lot to help out the people she was with - respected as english & having a female influence - she was able to obtain food, clothes, and comfort items which made her battalion love her & care for her. it is not a great story, you dont get absorbed & left wondering what will happen next... its just sort of informative about serbs in WWI and this lady who ended up with them.

It made me sad and proud at the same time. I can’t truly imagine what they went through. Great listening and one big thank you to the English women who spent time and helped to my fellow Serbians.
