The Browns at Mt. Hermon
Pansy
Lu par BookAngel7
When she mistakenly receives an offer of work addressed only to "Mary Brown," the lonely young heiress Mary Thornton Brown forms an audacious plan--to spend her summer not as a guest at a fashionable resort but as a hired girl in Mrs. Roberts' boarding house. Over the course of her adventure, she meets people from many different walks of life, a number of them, to her amusement, sharing her own last name. A certain gentleman boarder is particularly pleasant--but even he is not the best friend Mary will meet during her summer at Mt. Hermon. - Summary by bookAngel7 (5 hr 54 min)

Critiques
Mary Brown is a delight

IMHO, this is the most modern and well written of all the Pansy stories I've read so far. Although there are still predictable elements, there are also delightful twists and turns. I really enjoyed this and so far it's my favorite Pansy story. I would give it more than five stars if I could.
Thought provoking

This is at once an entertaining story with a satisfying conclusion and an exhortation for Christians to be always ready to explain the Hope that lies within them. Within this story, woven into the plot seamlessly, is one of the clearest pictures of salvation I have read. I will be reading more of Pansy's books!

Very engaging story - simply delightful! A few chapters were read very fast, but overall a very good reading. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Cute story. The reader is a bit fast but very clear.

The worst. She marries the wrong guy. She marries the wrong guy. SHE MARRIED THE WRONG GUY!!!!?? Carpenter is too perfect. He is the epitome of a perfect man. He’s not even perfect to a fault. He’s just a stinkin’ perfect! Kendall, on the other hand, was just expelled from college, handsome, funny, and has a decent sense of humor. Now you decide who you like better(If you like Kendall better you’ll be disappointed)

I loved the beginning and ending of this novel, but my attention drifted in the middle. I felt the characters focused on changed very quickly, and I didn't realise religion was such a strong theme. It's a sweet, heartwarming story, particularly suitable for Christians as several characters struggle to find a relationship with Christ. The reading is wonderful - it's very clear and I liked her different ways of speaking for each character.

I loved the first and last few chapters, but a chunk in the middle was far too preaching and religious for me, and didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the story. I nearly stopped listening but battled through to a much better ending. The reader was good but very fast so I used the slow down which made it perfect.
great story

I enjoyed the story very much and did not find it preachy as some commented. I thought the reader was great as well and I enjoyed the pace with which she read the story. I'm a fast reader myself and some of the readers on librivox read so slow, her pace was perfect. need a great story, listen to this one!
