Lu par Don W. Jenkins

(3.1 stars; 4 reviews)

F. Anstey was the nom de plume of Thomas Anstey Guthrie, a Londoner who was trained for the bar but found success as a writer of humorous pieces for Punch and humorous novels. Voces Populi, a collection of his Punch pieces, is considered to be among his best works. He treats an array of situations from the charlatan conjuror to a row over a lady's large, obstructive hat at the music hall. - Summary by Don W. Jenkins (4 hr 48 min)

Laughter Is Great Medicine

(5 stars)

I have read recently that laughter is actually good medicine and I know it is for me. These were very funny little episodes but Don Jenkins' manner of reading them was even better. Thank you again, Mr. Jenkins for the excellent reading of this work, and the many others you have read for Librivox. You have a great gift and may God bless you for giving so much of yourself for the benefit of others. Thanks to everyone at Librivox!

Not impressed. The reader put me off greatly. I’m sure he has good intentions, but I rather he would put the voices. I favour the soothing readers, preferably with Brit accent!

Didn't keep my interest

This collection of short stories didn't keep my interest. I listened to a few, but no sparks. Excellent reader tho, as always.
