Critiques

The reader was excellent. The story was just ok. I liked the detail and description of life at that time. Henry James is great at that. The main character was frustrating because of her single-mindedness. I think it’s unrealistic the things she did and it’s a flaw of the writer. He creates this stupid and unsympathetic character in the midst of a very realistic crisis. Is it a lack of understanding of the female mind or is it intentional? I was thankful it ended quickly and spared the reader anymore dramatic “scenes”.

A Winner!!

Deborah Percy does a great job on James' most excellent story.
