(5 estrellas; 4 reseñas)

"Sad Sack" was created by Sgt. George Baker during WWII and began his life as a comic strip character. The first Sad Sack comic book was issued by Harvey Comics in June 1942, titled "Yank the Army Weekly." In the summer of 1946, with the help of Herb Vigran and sponsor Old Gold Cigarettes, Sad Sack transitioned to radio.

The series aired as the summer replacement for Frank Sinatra's radio program, running from June 12th until September 4th of the same year. Notable cast members included Jim Backus, known for his role as Thurston Howell III on "Gilligan's Island" and the voice of Mr. Magoo, along with Sandra Gould, Ken Cristy, and Patsy Moran. Dick Joy served as the announcer for the series, which began with the episode "Sack Returns Home from the Army."

Thank you for your input. I am sorry; not just for my error, but for the error the radio stations made when they didn't hold onto more of this wonderful OTR sitcom! I have tried to find more "Sad Sacks", but they just are not out there! def gp
