a great book, but some of the reading is not so good

MatfordDavid
this is often thought of as Buchan's second best yarn, and a reading on Librivox was overdue. so five stars for the book, four for the reading. one reader mispronounced "Buchan", there was inconsistent pronunciation of Palliser, and of some French words that are used in England, and one reader read paragraph breaks as if they were as short as full stops. And please, the wedding present was a QUAICH, not a quiche.

A LibriVox Listener
Old fashioned but excellent and original tale. Just a little hard to follow due to some readers trying (and failing “Brigadoon” style) to read in a Scottish accent!
cracking yarn

Andrew McFarlane
A bit old fashioned but well structured tale of its era.

Excellent story that must be due for a miniseries.
